When you brush you dog it distributes the oils from the skin through the hair which will clean the hair. No need for weekly bathing  all that does is dry out your dogs skin. Really is no need for a bath if you are having your dog groomed on a regular basis which is 4 weeks,6weeks or 8weeks depending on type of dog and length of the hair. If you must bathe your dog make sure you have it completely brushed out first. If not you will cause the mats in your pets hair to get tighter.
Did you know there really is no magic potion to get mats out of a dog.  All I can do is brush. I will not brush out a dog that is really matted, it is very painful for the dog. It grows back and we can start from scratch. Plus the dog will feel so much better. Mated hair that is tight to the skin cuts off a dogs circulation, and causes that hair not to grow in correctly.
Once you visit my shop you will see that we have several kinds of pets we have rescued including "Chompers" who is a Russian Spurred Tortoise; "Squeaky" who is a very large Guinea Pig whose owner passed away from Breast Cancer; "Butterfly" who is a 2 month old Guinea Pig (she is a bit shy right now); and two Leopard Geckos. Can you tell we love animals??

I am in the process of testing a diet on some of my dogs that have been digging and scratching and I thought were allergies. They have been to the vet been put on antibiotics and steroids quite a few times. After researching the problem more I believe it is an internal yeast problem. The root cause of the problem can be yeast that changes to a fungal form and overloads the gut causing toxins to leak into the body and breakdown the immune system. What we see is skin, coat and ear infections. It also causes a foul odor that keeps coming back a few days after a bath. The biggest problem is commercial dog food most are grain based and full of byproducts. In the body grains convert to sugar and yeast which causes fungus to grow. You need to check the ingredients on your dog food. Dogs should have WHOLE GRAINS with fiber intact and not GRAIN BASED.

So what I am doing is ORGANIC, HOLISTIC or NATURAL dog food. I have also started on sugar free yogurt, that will help put some of the good bacteria back into the dog. It is something that will take a month or two but I think this is the root of my dog's problems. My dogs will not be to happy that I have cut out the junk treats, but this should be worth it in the long run.

I will keep you updated on how things are going. Please check back on this page to see what we have added.
